Single blood test promises earlier detection of cancer

Single blood test promises earlier detection of cancerA recent discovery that could be a  revolutionary Medicine: a new test has been developed to screen for multiple types of cancer using only a blood sample.

Researchers from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, describe a new test called CancerSEEK, which looks for the presence of eight different types of cancer, including cancer of the ovaries, breast, prostate, liver, lung, pancreas and colon.

This test aims to detect cancer in early stage, thus reducing cancer-related deaths.

Although CancerSEEK test showed a success on patients with non-metastatic cancer, the results are not clear for those who haven’t yet been diagnosed with cancer or those with no history of cancer, thus further research is needed.
